EmFilm IV

EmFilm IV dressings are sterile, adhesive IV Cannula securement dressings.

They are made from a latex free, semi-permeable polyurethane film membrane, coated with a hypoallergenic adhesive and are breathable, allowing good oxygen and moisture vapour exchange. Emfilm IV are also showerproof and impermeable to liquids, bacteria and viruses to reduce the risk of wound infection.

Application

  • Clean and dry the application area utilising aseptic technique

  • Remove centre cut out which also holds the 2 sterile fixation tape strips

  • Peel the backing paper away from the framed film dressing

  • Apply the dressing by placing it over the catheter so that transparent film covers the insertion site

  • Position the soft cloth tape section over the catheter wings with the port at end of the deep round or V notch

  • Overlap each side of the soft cloth tape underneath the port hub

  • Remove the frame and gently firm edges down to ensure adhesion

  • Finally, remove the documentation label from the frame and apply either on the skin or the dressing, use extra securement to fixate IV line
